Register your Child

Did you know … just registering your child for Free School Meals means that the school gets extra money to spend on your child (called Pupil Premium)?

Register now using the link below to make sure you don’t miss out.

Please don’t miss out - when Universal Free School Meals were introduced for all Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage One pupils, some parents did not know that they can still apply for Free School Meals (Pupil Premium) for their children because this funding doesn’t just mean a meal for the child at lunchtime (all children can now have that if their parents wish) but can mean a lot more besides for their child. Parents still need to apply if they wish their child to have free school meals in Key Stage Two just as before.

The Government allocates money to schools to help children and their families who are facing challenges do their very best. This funding is called ‘Pupil Premium’.

For every child registered, Hartsfield School gets an additional £1,320 per year to spend on children’s educational and other needs. If your child has been "looked after" by the local authority then this is more.

Here are some examples of ways that we have been able to support our families with this additional money. We have been able to provide:

  • extra 1-to-1 tuition to support learning
  • small group extra support
  • help with costs of after school/sports clubs
  • help with music lessons
  • help with sports clubs
  • help with the purchase of school uniform or sports kit
  • funding for conselling to support emotional needs
  • help with costs of school trips

How does it work?

  1. First, check if you qualify (see below) – it is not just if you are unemployed but currently is for all families with a joint income of below £16,190 per year who are not in receipt of Working Tax Credit.

  2. Registering is really quick and easy – if you think you qualify, fill in the attached form and send it to Mrs Munson in the school office. We will then apply on your behalf.

  3. If you want your child to have a free, healthy meal at lunchtime that’s great; your child will get a free meal but if you prefer them to have a packed lunch they still can, but also get the other benefits as long as you register.

Do you qualify?

You can register your child for Free School Meals( pupil premium) if you are in receipt of any of these benefits:
